About our Hawaiian Fabrics

HawaiianFabricShop.com offers Classic, Panel, Tapa and Exclusive Hawaiian Fabrics. Below you'll find descriptions of each print category and a listing of the types of fabric available.

Classic Hawaiian Fabrics are "all over" Hawaiian print fabrics that repeat themselves in patterns. Classic Hawaiian fabrics are available in 100% cotton broadcloth, 100% cotton poplin, 100% canvas, 100% cotton dobby, and the very poplular polyester cotton blended fabrics. Classic Hawaiian fabrics are very versatile and can be used for sewing dresses, Hawaiian shirts and almost everything you can imagine! Classic prints are also popular for craft items because of its repeated print pattern.

Panel Hawaiian Fabrics are horizontal printed panels that are vertical to the salvage. Panel Hawaiian fabrics are available in 100% cotton broadcloth and polyester cotton blended fabrics. Panel Hawaiian print fabrics are popular for sewing pau'u skirts. HawaiianFabricShop.com offers discounts for Halaus, as well as bulk and large orders. Email us the names of the fabrics and the approximate number of yards you are interested in, and we will forward you a quote.

Tapa Hawaiian Fabrics use tapa patterns used by the ancient Hawaiians and are wonderful for dressing-up a luau (as a table cloth or skirt), or in crafting projects. Tapa prints are often seen in downtown Honolulu, sewn inside out as an Aloha shirt for everyday business attire.

Exclusive Hawaiian Fabrics are 100% rayon crepe fabrics that are exclusive to Naturally You & Me in Hawaii. These luxurious fabrics are ideal for dresses and shirts and other Hawaiian apparel, and are also popular as bridal party wear for Hawaiian weddings. They are washed three times to reduce shrinkage. For samples of these crepe fabrics, email us the names of the fabrics that catch your eye, and we will be happy to have swatches mailed out to you shortly.

Now that you're acquainted with the different categories of Hawaiian fabric prints available on our site, the following are definitions of the types of fabrics we carry, for the categories described above.

100% Cotton Poplin Hawaiian Fabric is a heavy fabric that has a textured, ribbed look. Apparel sewn with poplin fabric do not wrinkle easily.

100% Cotton Broadcloth Hawaiian Fabric is a soft, breathable fabric ideal for sewing apparel.

100% Cotton Dobby Hawaiian Fabric is also known as Lava Cloth. Hawaiian print dobby fabric is a textured fabric thicker than polin and broadcloth but softer than canvas. It is exellent for sewing pillows or as a covering for an old sofa or chair.

100% Cotton Canvas Hawaiian Fabric is used mainly for upholstery because of its durability. It is a sturdy and stiff fabric.

Polyester Cotton Blended Hawaiian Fabric is very versitile and can be used for almost all of your sewing or crafting needs. Polyester is added to cotton to help add "stiffness" to the soft cotton, giving the material more "body."

Crepe Hawaiian Fabric is a soft-falling fabric with a light texture.
