Our Fall Craft Project is Decorative Lauhala Gift Boxes. Almost all of the items needed to create your lauhala boxes can be found on our site.

In order to make your lauhala gift boxes, you'll need the following supplies:

Instructions:

Step #1: Cut two (2) strips of Hawaiian Fabric. If using a 4” x 4” x 4” Lauhala box we recommended 14” in length and 1.5”-2” in width. Size the Hawaiian Fabric so that its width matches the width of the Lauhala Box, and its length wraps from one side of the box to the other, with at least two (2) additional inches' slack (to be tucked under). Use scissors to make a straight cut or for a more decorative flair, consider using pinking shears for jagged edges.

Step #2: Glue the Hawaiian Fabric strips to the inside of the Lauhala Box.

Step #3: Glue the Rafia Flower (we recommend using the 2.5” Rafia flower for a 4” x 4” x 4” box) to the top of the Lauhala Box, in the center of the area where the Hawaiian Fabric crosses over each other.

Step #4: Glue the Hawaiian Charm onto the Rafia Flower.

These Lauhala Gift Boxes are perfect for year-round gift giving and can be used for storing knicknacks once the gift has been opened. Use smaller Lauhala Boxes for wedding and party favors, and a larger box for wrapping a tropical Hawaiian Shirt.
